Labelling
Labeling master cartons in an Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) shipment is an important step to ensure that your inventory is properly received and processed by Amazon’s fulfillment centers. Amazon has specific requirements for labeling master cartons, and it’s essential to follow these guidelines to avoid any issues with your shipments.
Here's how you should label master cartons for Amazon FBA:
1. Master Carton Label:
– Use a 4″ x 4″ label for the master carton label.
– The label should be applied to the top of the master carton.
– Include the following information on the label:
– “FNSKU” (Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit): This is a unique identifier for your product in Amazon’s fulfillment network.
– “ASIN” (Amazon Standard Identification Number): This is the Amazon product identifier.
– Product name.
– Quantity of individual units within the master carton.
– Total quantity of units in the shipment.
– “Prepped By” and “Prepared On” fields, where you indicate who prepared the shipment and the date it was prepared.
– The label should be printed clearly and be scannable. It’s recommended to use a thermal label printer for this purpose.
2. Label Placement:
– The label should be placed on a flat surface, ideally on the top of the master carton.
– Avoid placing the label on seams, edges, or corners, as this can cause issues with scanning and processing.
3. Barcodes:
– Ensure that all barcodes (FNSKU and ASIN) are clear and scannable.
– Do not cover or overlap barcodes with tape or other labels.
4. Packaging:
– Ensure that your master carton is well-packaged and sturdy to protect the contents during transit.
– Use appropriate packaging materials and sealing methods to prevent damage to your products.
5. Shipment Packing:
– Organize your products in master cartons according to Amazon’s guidelines, such as using appropriate box sizes and not overfilling boxes.
– Group similar items together and clearly label each master carton with its contents.
